Conversion Guidlines Ultimately, the best way to start a campaign for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game is by generating new characters. However, many players will want to transfer characters from previous iterations of the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game (the West End Games version) to conform to the new rules.

The D6 system is, as the name suggests, a roleplaying system built around the humble yet mighty D6. It is published by West End Games, and is generally used for pen and paper games but can also be used for LARP and war games.

In 2009 West End Games released many of the generic D6 books under the OpenD6 OGL. In 2016 Nocturnal Media acquired WEG and the D6 System trademark.[1]

I've played SWD6 off and on over the years, starting in the mid-nineties, and am working on the preliminary plans for a new campaign using the Star Wars Classic Adventures rules for my daughter and her friends over summer break. However, I'm contemplating letting my player's start with slightly more experienced heroes, just so we can 'jump into the deep end' a little sooner. Maybe also have some slightly more competent lightsaber-swinging Jedi, because you know nothing hooks a kid on the Star Wars RPG quite like a lightsaber!

The kids all have a couple years of D&D5e under their belts and shouldn't have any trouble learning the SWD6 1e system... But, how to go about doing it.

Option One: Instead of starting them out with 18D Attributes and 7D Skills, give them all 18D and 12D. Raising the 'cap' on starting skills from (Attribute)+2D to (Attribute)+3D or maybe even (Attribute)+4D.

Option Two: Starting them out with 18D Attributes and 7D Skills and 40-50 Skill Points to spend.

Option One is clearly the fastest, especially if the players are using Templates which I imagine most of them will. But Option Two would work exactly the way all character advancement will for the remainder of the campaign, therefore allowing them some practice with the way the system works.

Any thoughts or any other ideas?
